We learned about the warning signs and stages of labor along with different options (medicine, positions, etc) for the process. We watched videos and had face to face instruction and yes, we did take a blanket and pillows to practice 'breathing' on the floor. (I actually really enjoyed that time! The lights were turned off with light music playing and Nick got to practice different massages to help me relax). At the end of the day, we took a tour of the women's ward of the hospital, seeing the labor/delivery room and postpartum room. The facility is new and everything was so nice!
The next day was Mother's day. I was so suprised to receive so many well-wishes! I don't necessarily feel like a mother yet but I'm doing my best to be as prepared as I can be. God has blessed me with this precious baby boy and I am honored to be a mom :) My parents gave Nick and I a joint Mother's/Father's day gift...a pool! I have always wanted one and now seems like the perfect time. I'm really looking forward to spending some of the next few weeks floating around and relaxing in the water before Carter comes! We began the process of setting it up Friday night (and by we, I mean Nick). It is supposed to be on a completely level surface but that does not exist in our backyard. He put it on the flattest area and we had it filled by the time we got home from church on Sunday (although it was a little lopsided). We really enjoyed our afternoon floating around but when we woke up Monday morning, all the water was gone! It had capsized on one side because of the building pressure due to its uneveness - yikes! So my wonderful husband has spent the last few nights after work digging in our backyard to make a level surface...we got it filled up last night, but what do you know, it's raining today :( Hopefully it will warm up and I can enjoy it again this weekend!

P.S. - I am 24 days away from my due date!!!!
ok - this may seem like a strange question.... but how do you get in the pool!?!? It looks tall - do you just roll over the edge?!? ha ha!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad it worked out for yawl to take the birthing class - seems the date and 1 day vs many nights was the way to go! The pool looks sooooo refreshing! I can just imagine you floating - suspended in the water like a lil frog. Next time you swim ... speak to lil Carter for me. You know what I'm talkin' about. Tell him his Emmie wants him to love playing in the water just like his mommie, grandparents and even great Granny Holt does :0)
