Years With My Best Friend

Today, I have been married to my best friend for four years. Happy Anniversary Nick! I am so blessed to have him as my husband and look forward to each and every day with him. For nostalgia's sake, I'll give a little recap of our relationship:
- met when I transferred high schools to Lincoln
- had Statistics together. Nick found out I had a boyfriend and decided to pursue the challenge :) We went on several dates that fall and then...
- Nick 'officially' asked me out January 7, 2004. I moved to Dallas for college and we dated long distance until...
- I transferred to FSU (something I never thought I would do!) But God and his plans are so much bigger and greater than my own and he truly worked in my life through the move. Nick proposed on July 5 (he had wanted to on the 4th but couldn't get the nerve to pull the ring out of his pocket, haha)
- We were married May 18, 2007. It was the most perfect day surrounded by so many family and friends.
- We adopted our canine child, Sidney, from the pound and we both found full time jobs (Nick as a computer support tech for the state and myself as an assistant kindergarten teacher)
- We moved to Fort Worth to begin seminary to prepare us for the foreign mission field.
- We found out we are pregnant
- We are having our first baby, June 6!
We've been through a lot since we've been together: close deaths in the family, graduations, new jobs, 2 overseas mission trips, 2 houses and a big move to Texas. But we are closer than ever and though it may be cheesy to say, Nick truly is my best friend. Everyday I look forward to him getting home from work and I would still rather spend time with him than anyone else. Yes, it's easy to begin to feel 'comfortable' with each other, but I love that! I am myself, completely and totally, around him and don't feel whole without him. He makes me feel safe, loved, and desired. But at the same time can make me laugh without fail and holds me accountable. God has truly blessed me with my husband and I am looking forward to a lifetime of anniversaries with him.
