What's Going On With Our Kiddos

Here's an update on our two little squirts:

CARTER
Carter is now 3.5 years old and at SUCH a fun age!  He's speaking so much more, in both languages, and his little mind is really starting to create and imagine things.  He's grasping some bigger concepts which has led to many games of Candy Land and Memory, and loves to play with Mom and Dad.  He says some of the funniest things, like when he's asked if he wants to do something he'll reply, "Not tonight, just on Monday," and some of the sweetest things, like coming up to you out of the blue and saying, "Mommy, I love you." (However, most of the time when I reply, "And I love you," he'll respond with an "I love you too," haha.)  He enjoys wrestling with Daddy, cooking with Mommy, playing outside, dressing up, playing with trains and dinosaurs, and watching TV.  He still takes a good nap most afternoons, and for that we are VERY grateful.  He really likes school - he started PK4 in February - and is always asking to go play with his teachers and friends.  He also loves playing with his K friends in the village and we're so thankful for how well he has adjusted to our visits there.  Every night before bed we read a book and a Bible story, sing 2 songs, and then he prays, thanking God for his family, friends, school, truck, house, grandparents, the mall, airplanes...the list goes on and on!  We love our Carter bug and can't believe what a little boy he has become!
OLIVER
Oliver is now 9 months old!  He's still a tiny thing but at his last weigh-in, he finally broke into the 3rd percentile on the growth chart for weight, haha.  But don't let his skinniness fool you...the boy loves to eat! Fruit and veggie purees, rice cereal, toast, cheese, fresh fruit, crackers, rice and beans, pancakes...you name it, he wants it.  He still doesn't have any teeth but has the cutest gummy grin you ever did see :)  He's settled into a fairly regular schedule during the day - waking 6:30-7am, napping mid-morning and mid-afternoon and going to sleep in the 8-9pm window.  He's doing much better at sleeping during the night but still wakes up 1-2 times each night.  (Let me tell you how incredibly ready I am for him to start sleeping through the night so I can have a little respite before baby sister gets here and the whole process starts all over again!).  Last week, I begrudgingly made the decision to switch him to formula.  It was difficult for me as you always hear "breast milk is best," and I fought it for a LONG time, but he has been growing more and more disinterested and recently rejecting it all together. (My supply is also practically non-existent with him refusing to nurse and being pregnant)  The pediatrician recommended formula a while ago to help with his weight gain (but not wanting to give up breastfeeding, I incorporated the formula powder into his purees instead), but recently I began to notice he wasn't having may wet diapers and wasn't drinking hardly anything during the day.  After much deliberation, I decided I needed to make the switch for him.  It was sad to nurse him for the last time at such a young age (and that session lasted all of a minute with his disinterest), but I really do see him doing well with the formula in bottles.  He is drinking MUCH more, having many more wet diapers, and seems to be sleeping for longer stretches.  Now I feel a little guilty I was depriving him of sufficient milk for a while!  But we are adjusting and learning, and I think he's doing well now :)  He's still a mama's boy through and through, which makes me happy that he loves me so much but makes it difficult to get anything accomplished when he constantly feels the need to be with me whenever he's awake.  I keep telling myself that in 10 years I will miss these days when my baby boy actually wanted to be with me, haha.  He still doesn't have any teeth and isn't crawling yet, but I have a feeling all of those things are just around the bend...
And now for some brotherly love:
