Surprise!

We made it back to Texas Sunday night after a whirlwind of a trip to Tallahassee last week. We hated to wait to introduce Carter to his extended family until Christmas so we decided to make a trip back before our fall semester and surprise Poppa for his 80th birthday. We got in Tuesday afternoon and that night we surprised Granny and Poppa when my parents took them out to eat. The entire family was waiting at the restaurant and they had no idea Nick, Carter, and I had made the trip back :) I can't believe we were able to keep it a surprise! We were so proud to show off our precious baby boy and so incredibly thankful for the wonderful extended family he has. What a treasure it was that he was able to meet his great-grandparents!

Though our trip was short, it was great to spend time with both Nick's and my family as well as some friends. We were even able to make it to a wedding on Saturday and introduce him to our church family on Sunday. I love Tallahassee!

Oh, and Carter did FABULOUS on the airplane! We were so worried to travel with him, fearful we would be 'those people' with the crying baby on the plane. But he slept through both flights on the way to Tally, waking up to eat during our layover, and on the way back, slept peacefully through the first...haha. He started screaming when we first got on our second plane coming home but was able to calm down and not be too fussy the rest of the way. The Lord definitely answered our prayers for Carter's travel :)
