Our baby is amazing. That's it. End of Story.
Well, I guess I should explain. We took Carter in for his 2 month appointment today and he did incredible! First of all, we had to wait a really long time and he was a trooper - even though it was during his usual nap time. He weighed in at 12 lbs 1.5 oz (which is right on target for his age) and was measured to be 24.5 inches long! The doctor was very impressed with his height and told us he is in the 98th percentile for his age. It sounds like we are going to have a tall boy on our hands :) Then it was time for the dreaded shots...I was so nervous, but Carter was a trooper! He had one oral dose of medicine (which he seemed to like) and then got 3 shots in his thighs. While she did it, his face turned bright red/purple as he held is breath during the shock of it. Then he let out a quick yelp and calmed down all on his own. It was amazing! Nick joked Carter did better with the shots than he would have done, haha. And I think I got more upset about the whole ordeal than he did! He stayed happy as we packed him up to go home and hasn't fussed since. We have such a good baby :)

Here are some of Carter's more recent firsts:
-smiling (he's really doing this intentionally now, not just when he has gas, haha. it is amazing to be greeted with that sweet little smile when i pick him up or to see his mouth turn up in the corners as we 'play')
-rolling over (he rolled from his stomach to his back a couple of weeks ago but yesterday rolled from his back to his stomach!)
-finding his hands (he would draw his fingers to his mouth every once in a while in the past but now he is really discovering his hands! slurping and making all kinds of loud noises as he entertains himself)

Here are some of his likes:
-baths (he LOVES taking a bath, but absolutely hates getting out of his tub. every time we pick him up to wrap him in the towel, the wailing begins. hopefully this means he'll love getting in the pool next summer!)
-ceiling fans (the child is mesmerized by the spinning of a ceiling fan!)
-lights (not quite as enticing as fans, but interesting nonetheless...)
-car rides
-walks around the block
-being outside (it is just about fail safe that if Carter is inconsolable, we can take him outside in the 100-something degree heat and he will be happy as a lark! even if mama is sweating like a pig...)
-his changing table (i am sooo thankful that Carter loves his changing table. i think he would stay on it all day if we let him. and on that note, he is perfectly happy to have his diaper changed and even seems to enjoy having his outfits changed. maybe he's going to be a prima donna, haha)
