How Can It Be?

I just laid my baby down for her last time before she turns one.  How is this possible? I thought I did pretty well with Oliver turning two in May, but it just can't be that my BABY is about to be one!  Let's just say she had some extra cuddles before mama put her in her crib tonight.

Leine Mae is such a joy and brings so much happiness to our little family.  The way she scrunches up her nose when she thinks something is funny.  The way she laughs when her big brothers play with her.  The way she smiles at everyone and never meets a stranger.  We just love her to pieces and are so grateful God chose us to be her family.

She really is a great baby.  She doesn't have to be with her mommy 24/7 (which was a much welcomed change after another unnamed baby...) and enjoys hamming it up with others.  She loves to play and for most of her little life, was pretty good at self-entertaining. (She's been a little more hands on recently).  She loves to smile and laugh, eats great, naps really well, and is easy-going with our crazy schedule (which is SUCH a blessing).  The one thing she just can't seem to get the hang of is sleeping through the night.  We're averaging 2-3 wake ups right now, but this mama is REALLY hopeful that will change soon :)  I also feel like I can't complain because that truly is the only really difficult thing with her.

She's not walking yet, but she is a FAST crawler and loves to pull up and climb.  (I am constantly finding her on the coffee table!)  She has a very healthy sense of curiosity as she is into EVERYTHING - cabinets, drawers, books, trash cans, you name it.  She can stand on her own, and just this week has really been impressing us with how long she can stay balanced.

Leine Mae has six teeth now - four up top and two on the bottom.  Her hair is filling in, although the pieces on the crown of her head are a good two inches longer than the rest, haha.  And it's staying a light brown! I'm not sure she's going to be blonde like her brothers.  She weighs 23 pounds and I think it's time to move her up to 18 month clothes.

Last week was rough as we think she may have had the zika virus (three days of fever followed by a bad rash, very similar to Oliver when he had the virus last year), but aside from that and the occasional cold, we are so thankful that she has been a very healthy girl.

She really did have a big first year - we flew from Brazil to Florida when she was just three months old, did a good bit of traveling in the states, flew back to Brazil in May when she was 10 months old, lived in a hotel for a couple of weeks as we looked for a house, and then moved into our current place.  She was a trooper through it all!

We took some cake smash pictures this weekend, although there wasn't too much 'smashing.'  Baby girl just was not too interested in the cake....but she sure did look cute!
