Our Adventure Begins, Part 3
We've gone out and about to a few places so far (although we've spent a lot of time getting settled into our new place). On Wednesday, our supervisors took us on a
walk around town and showed us the pharmacy, bank, chocolate shop, and pointed
out several other stores. We went out to
lunch with everyone that afternoon and that evening we went to the weekly
market (which happens to be directly across the street from us) where they sell
everything from fruits and veggies, to raw meat, to snacks and juices, to fresh
milk, to live chickens (which Carter absolutely loved). After that, we headed to the supermarket…let’s
just say it’s no Kroger, haha. But we
were able to find a good amount of what we needed and enjoyed looking around at
all the different items. Thursday, Nick
and I ventured out on our own for the first time to buy something to bathe
Carter in (there are just showers here and he was NOT a fan of taking a shower
when we tried) and some clothes hangers.
We were successful but I’m definitely ready to start our language study
so that when people talk to me, I don’t have to just stand there with a blank
look on my face! Oh, and everybody loves Carter! He definitely sticks out with
that bright blonde hair and some people have even called over others to look at
him J
Hopefully he’ll help us to build many relationships in the future. That night,
Nick went to a Bible study (all in Portuguese) but had fun meeting some of the
people who will be part of our church here.
This weekend we are going to meet with our language teacher to try and
develop a schedule for our studies, which begin next week. Whew…we’re really doing this!

How neat to have the market that close! Hope the prices are good. Could relate to the shower thing. Callie had never had one until we went to language school. However, she was 5 so she soon adjusted. YES Carter is going to draw a lot of folks to you and be a big part of your ministry. Sure do miss that sweet face here (and his great parents, too!) Praying for this coming week!
