Mimi And Pawpaw

We had a great 10 day visit from Nick's mom and step-dad, Sharon/Mimi and Steve/Pawpaw.  We had such a fun time showing them around the city we've been living in the past year and also doing a little touristy travel of our own :)  In town, we walked to the park, around the lake, to the city square, and to many shops.  We ate at our favorite restaurant for lunch and at an espetinho stand (meat on a stick) on the street for dinner.  We went to the grocery store and church and even to the pool one day.  We traveled to a little historic town (where Nick, Carter and I traveled in May for our wedding anniversary) called Pirenopolis and stayed in the cutest pousada (kind of like a mixture of a hotel and a bed and breakfast).  Although it was rainy and cool the entire time we were there and we couldn't take advantage of their kiddie pool, we did a lot of shopping and Carter loved running around and playing with his grandparents.  We also made a trip to Anapolis to work on our visas (it was such a relief to have grandparents there to entertain Carter while we dealt with the Federal Police) and to Corumba.  In Corumba, we went to a place where we hiked to three different waterfalls (in our flip-flops, which was not an easy task), swam in the pool (well, Carter and Mimi did because it was pretty cold...), and rode huge water slides on the side of the mountain.  Their flight back to the states left Brasilia at 3:30am on Sunday - yuck - so we decided to go a day early on Friday, spend the night with some friends, and then go to the zoo and the market on Saturday.  It was such a treat to have them come and know we will always remember this visit :)
Oh, and did I mention they brought two whole suitcases STUFFED with things for us and the baby! We were definitely spoiled as we unwrapped American goodies and reminisced through Carter's baby items for our new little boy.
I don't have pictures of all of our activities as of yet, because I took advantage of Sharon being here with her camera and didn't lug mine around everywhere we went...But here are some memories I was able to capture:
